3.Then down below, select Category weights. The term weights option is only available for semesters not quarters. Once the Category weights is chosen the box beneath it is unlocked. Then, in the box, to add a category, click on the + add category (or add assignment) button.
1.Click on the Grade Setup tab. Make sure underneath the tab for the Mode it is set for Calculations.
2.Click on the first reporting term you want to make a change for. Remember, terms by default are set to issue grades by total points. It will remain that way unless you change it. It is always best practice to start with the lowest term first.
4. After all the categories/assignments are chosen for the final grade calculation, it will all be listed in the box. You will have to give the categories/assignments weights that equal 100%
To enter the weights, double click on the column next to the category/assignment. Type in the weight for the categories/assignments.
Click on Save when you are done. Repeat the process for the other quarter.
Term Weights (Semester Only)
1. Click on the reporting term for the semester.
2. Then down below, click on Term weights.
3. Underneath in the box, the different terms will appear:
S1 - Q1 & Q2 terms will appear.
S2 - Q3 & Q4 terms will appear.
4. In the Weight column, double click on the first term. Enter the percentage that the term is worth. Most teachers have 50% of each quarter, some have 40% of the first term, then 60% for the second term.
5. Double click on the second term and enter the weight amount. When you are done, click Save below.
It is possible to have category weights for the quarter terms and then have term weights for the semester. There are many different combinations of calculating the final grade. It is dependent on what your grade policies are.
The Final Grade Setup is for teachers that use weighted percentage of the terms or categories for student grades. If you use total points to determine the final grade, it is not necessary to setup the final grade. You will need to do this for each class.
If you chose to add category, a window with all your categories appear. You can check all the categories you want to include in the final grade for the selected term. You can choose some or all.
If you chose to add assignment, a window will appear with a list of all assignments. You can check the assignments you want to calculation in the final grade.
Click OK when you are done. You can add both categories and/or assignments.
Click on the remove button to erase a category/assignment from the category weights list.
