Gradebook Use for CA/VA
When the gradebook opens, in the upper left corner, check to make sure you are in the correct school year. You can click on the pull-down menu to access different terms.

Summary: Shows teachers how to use PTG to enter grades instead of using the portal.
Periodically save your work! Click on the SAVE button on the lower right corner of the spreadsheet.
To quit the gradebook, click on the menu PowerTeacher Gradebook on the upper left corner of your screen and select the option Quit Gradebook.
Please keep in mind, the gradebook does time out after 30 minutes of inactivity so SAVE your work frequently!
#4 - To enter marks for each of the standards, you can type in the mark.
OR
You can hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and click once on the box you want to enter the mark for. A menu will appear. Select the option, Grades. A list of possible marks for the standard will appear.
At the across top of the spreadsheet are the names of the standards on the report card.
If you click on the arrow next to the abbreviated standard name, a window will appear at the bottom of the gradebook screen. The window will provide you with the standards information.
The spreadsheet window cannot hold all the standards on the screen. Please make sure you use the scroll bar to move right where the rest of the standards can be found.
At the very end of the spreadsheet is where teacher comments are located.
Unlike all the other standard names, there is a small blue C located on the lower right corner of the box. This indicates that it is a comment field.
To access the comment box, double click on the cell of the student you want to enter a comment for.
Once you double click on the cell, a Score Inspector window will appear.
You can type in your comments in the text box. If your web browser has spell check, the comment you enter will spell check as you type.
When you are done entering a comment for a student, you have the option of closing this box or moving directly to the next student without having to close and reopen another window. To move to the next student, click on the up and down arrow (not the left/right) next to the student name.
If you want to quit the comment process, click on the Close button at the bottom right corner of the window.
After you log into the PowerTeacher Portal, click on the Gradebook button located on the left menu bar.
In the center of the PowerTeacher screen, click on the button, Launch Gradebook.
When the security warning appears, click on the button Trust. Your gradebook will now open.
